Coronavirus: One in three exposed to coronavirus in Chennai, shows second sero survey

India's total cases have now reached 76,51,108. With 717 new deaths, the death toll stands at 1,15,914. Total active cases are 7,40,090 after a decrease of 8448 in last 24 hours. Cathay Pacific cuts 8,500 jobs, shutters regional airline

About 5,300 employees based in Hong Kong and another 600 elsewhere will likely lose their jobs, and 2,600 unfilled positions will be cut. The cuts are about 24 per cent of the company's workforce, Cathay Pacific said in a statement. “The global pandemic continues to have a devastating impact on aviation and the hard truth is we must fundamentally restructure the group to survive,” Cathay Pacific CEO Augustus Tang said in a statement.

Chinese city to offer Covid-19 vaccine candidate as emergency use expands

Residents aged between 18 and 59 in the city of Shaoxing, who are not in priority groups, can apply online for inoculation, the city's health commission said on Tuesday on its WeChat account. It did not name the vaccine, say when inoculation would start or how many doses would be offered. Hundreds of thousands of people have already taken experimental Covid-19 vaccines in China since it launched its emergency use programme in July aimed at essential workers and other limited groups of people at higher risk of infection. The use of shots that are still under study has raised safety concern among experts.
