NEW DELHI: Swati Khandoker of the All India Trinamool Congress won the Chanditala constituency with 1,07,143 votes, defeating BJP candidate Debasish Mukherjee by a margin of 19,663 votes. Mukherjee secured 87,480 votes. CPI(M)'s Asif Ali finished third with 25,438 votes, followed by Congress's Abu Abbas Uddin Sk with 2,458 votes.
Eight candidates contested from Chanditala in West Bengal's 2026 Assembly Election: Swati Khandoker (TMC), Debasish Mukherjee (BJP), Asif Ali (CPI(M)), Abu Abbas Uddin Sk (Congress), Debashish Mukherjee (Independent), Md Abul Hasan Gayen (Aam Janata Unnayan Party), Sumit Mukherjee (Independent), and Sekh Firoj (Independent).
NOTA recorded 1,451 votes.
Chanditala (constituency no. 194) is situated in Hooghly district and falls under the Sreerampur Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency straddles both Chanditala I and Chanditala II community development blocks. It is predominantly rural with some semi-urban pockets and is part of an agriculturally active region. The area is located to the south of Singur and shares the socio-economic characteristics typical of this part of Hooghly district.
In 2021, TMC's Swati Khandoker won the seat, defeating BJP's Yash Dasgupta by a comfortable margin. In 2016, TMC also held the seat. Swati Khandoker, the sitting MLA, was renominated by the TMC for 2026, giving her an incumbency advantage.
The seat's electoral history shows consistent TMC dominance since 2011.
