Baruipur Paschim constituency assembly election results 2026: TMC's Biman Banerjee defeats BJP's Biswajit Paul

NEW DELHI: Even as the BJP held a broader advantage across the state, the Baruipur Pashchim constituency was retained by the Trinamool Congress, with Biman Banerjee securing 1,04,781 votes. He defeated BJP candidate Biswajit Paul by a margin of 17,862 votes, maintaining a comfortable lead through the counting process. Paul polled 86,919 votes but finished second in the contest.




Baruipur Paschim is an assembly constituency located in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. It is one of the seven Assembly segments that fall under the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency.

At present, Biman Banerjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) is the sitting MLA from Baruipur Paschim. He won the seat in the 2021 assembly election by securing 57.27% of the total votes polled. He was followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Debopam Chattopadhyay, who received 27.97% of the votes.

Banerjee has represented the constituency for multiple consecutive terms, having also won the seat in the 2016 and 2011 assembly elections as an AITC candidate.

The election history shows that Baruipur Paschim has remained under AITC’s control for several consecutive elections, reflecting strong and consistent voter support for the party in the constituency.
