The third phase of polling in West Bengal ended on Tuesday with a total voter turnout of 77.68 per cent across 31 seats keeping up the trend of high turnout. However, the third phase also witnessed violence during polling as the ruling Trinamool Congress, the BJP and the Left-Congress alliance put up an intense fight in the high-stakes contest. Voters wearing masks were seen queuing up outside polling booths, maintaining distance by standing in marked circles across the 12 districts in lower Assam where voting was underway.
