Apocalypse-like scenes unfolded in Louisiana after a massive explosion and fire tore through PBF Energy’s Chalmette refinery in Louisiana. Thick black smoke filled the sky after a heater on a reformer unit exploded, triggering a huge blaze at the 190,000-barrel-per-day refinery. Videos from the scene showed towering flames and massive smoke plumes rising above the facility as emergency crews rushed to contain the fire. Officials said the explosion occurred at around 12:51 p.m. CDT. Authorities also confirmed there were no reported injuries and no off-site impacts from the incident.
