Increasing weight and obesity have been a health concern for years, but did you know it also has an imapct on the economic condition. For a long time obesity was thought to be a problem that only happened in rich countries. This was because people in these countries had a lot of money ate a lot of food and did not get much exercise.. A big study that was published in the journal Nature has changed the way we think about this. The study shows that there is a change happening in the health of people around the world. In rich countries the number of people who are obese is not going up as fast as it used to.. In poorer countries the number of people who are obese is going up very quickly.
About the study
As per the a study published in the journal Nature, a study sample was conducted by taking a data from 232 million people in 200 countries over 45 years. They found out how the weight of people has changed around the world by looking at more than 4,000 studies that tracked the height and weight of people.
Why the surge in obseity
The number of people who are obese has gone up almost everywhere over the past 45 years..
The rate at which it is going up is very different depending on where people live. There is a difference between rich countries and poor countries. In countries the number of people who are obese is not going up as fast as it used to. This is happening in countries where people have a lot of money. The number of children who are obese started to level off in the 1990s in some countries. Today the number of children who are obese is not going up fast as it used to in many countries. For example in Japan, Denmark and France 3% to 4% of girls are obese.. In the United States 23% of boys are obese. The same thing is happening with adults in countries. The number of adults who're obese is not going up as fast as it used to. In Western Europe the number of adults who're obese has leveled off at around 11% to 23%.
In poor countries the number of people who are obese is going up very quickly. In many of these countries the number of people who are obese is going up every year.
In some parts of the world like Central Europe and Latin America, the number of people who are obese is now higher than it is in rich countries. In countries like Romania, Czechia and Brazil 30% to 40% of adults are obese.
What is causing this change?
The people who did the study say that the reason for this change is that the way people live is different in countries. In countries, people are more aware of the importance of being healthy and they have access to healthier food.In countries, people are moving to cities very quickly and this is changing the way they eat. In these countries it is often cheaper and easier to buy food that's not healthy. The study says that obesity is a problem that is different in different countries. The number of people who are obese depends on many things, like how old people are and whether they are men or women.
The real issue
Obesity is a problem that is getting worse every year. The number of people who're obese is much higher now than it was 20 years ago.
What we need
The people who did the study say that we need to understand what is causing obesity in countries so that we can find solutions that work. We need to make sure that people have access to food and that it is affordable. The strategies that work in countries may not work in poor countries. We need to find ways to help people in poor countries to be healthy.
