Seshu was in tears at our Lollu Sabha reunion: Rambhala

Lollu Sabha fame actor Seshu (Lakshmi Narayanan Seshu) passed away on March 26 at the age of 60 in a private hospital in Chennai. The actor was reportedly admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack on March 15.

Known for his comic roles, the actor made his film debut with Dhanush’s Thulluvadho Ilamai, and became popular after acting in the television show Lollu Sabha. He went on to gain further recognition for his collaborations with Santhanam, playing comic roles in the actor’s films like A1, Dikkiloona, Gulu Gulu, and most recently Vadakkupatti Ramasamy.

Rambhala known for Dhilluku Dhuddu, who was also the director of Lollu Sabha, shares his memories of working with the late actor.
“Seshu and I had a 22-year bond. Whenever I wrote the script, I al ways gave a special character to him because he had a great ability to depict a character. Both Santhanam and Yogi Babu entered the industry at an early stage and became famous. However,
Seshu made his debut in the industry late and had only recently begun to gain popularity among audiences. He was a dedicated and hardworking person, and always made sure to learn more about the character that he was playing,” says the director.

He also mentions the late actor’s little-known philanthropic side. “One important thing about Seshu is he helped a lot of people. He’d helped many poor children with their education and donated money for the marriages of those in need,” he informs. Talking about their last meeting, he recalls, “He wanted to see our entire Lollu Sabha team together and his wish came true when we celebrated the show’s 20th anniversary recently. He was in tears at the event and remarked, ‘I’ve seen all of us together, and that’s enough for me.’ We all rushed together to his home after hearing the news and stayed there till the funeral.”
