Potholes, debris and chaos: Bengaluru commuters struggle ahead of Pink Line Metro launch

A 4-km stretch leading to Kalena Agrahara station lacks proper footpaths, forcing pedestrians dangerously close to fast-moving traffic, with potholes and garbage further complicating access to the upcoming Pink Line station.

Despite a four-lane road, pedestrian movement near Hulimavu station is unsafe. Uneven footpaths, dumped construction material, and debris force commuters onto busy roads, affecting daily travel to nearby neighbourhoods and commercial areas.

Situated near Vega City Mall, this station faces severe congestion. Lack of proper footpaths on either side of the road affects safety, while ongoing beautification of the median has yet to improve pedestrian access.

The stretch between IIM-B and Vega City Mall is poorly maintained. Dusty roads, dumped concrete pipes, and encroached footpaths make it difficult for pedestrians, commuters, and residents to navigate the area safely.

As Bengaluru’s third interchange station, Jayadeva benefits from nearby bus stops. However, authorities must ensure robust last-mile connectivity to facilitate easy access for commuters and hospital visitors.

The terminal station faces access issues due to debris along the median and garbage accumulation, including burnt plastic waste, creating unsafe and unhygienic conditions for residents and commuters in surrounding areas.

Several stretches along the Metro corridor remain damaged, with craters, potholes, and dug-up patches forcing motorists to swerve and making pedestrian movement extremely hazardous.

Footpaths along the stretch are blocked by construction debris, stacked pipes, and garbage, pushing pedestrians onto busy roads and creating unsafe conditions for residents and daily commuters.

Lack of clearly planned access roads and safe pedestrian crossings reduces the Metro’s effectiveness. Residents express concern that absent feeder services may prevent the Pink Line from easing traffic congestion.

Busy junctions like Dairy Circle and Lakkasandra remain difficult to navigate due to potholes, debris, and poorly maintained bus stands, affecting pedestrians, motorists, and overall commuter experience along Bannerghatta Road.
