Lokesh Kanagaraj has finally spoken about the talk around 'Coolie'. The film released on August 14. It stars Rajinikanth in the lead role. The movie got mixed response from people. Many liked Rajinikanth. Many felt the story was weak.As reported by India Today, at a press meet on the last day Lokesh said, “Coolie received 1000s of criticisms.. I'll try to rectify it in my next film.. Even with those criticisms people watched the film for Rajinikanth sir. The producer told me the film collected Rs 500 crore. Thanks to everyone.”

Even with criticism 'Coolie' did very well in theatres. People came mainly to watch Rajinikanth. The film had a big cast. Many viewers said the writing felt routine. Some said the story did not connect. Still the film made huge money. Lokesh thanked the audience for their support.

Upendra shares his reason

Actor Upendra also spoke about 'Coolie'. He said he did the film only for Rajinikanth. In an interview with Galatta Plus he said “I did the role in Coolie for Rajini sir. It is something I never even dreamed. I am a big fan of him. I admire his performance his talent his philosophy and even his life.” His words showed respect and love for the star.

Role became bigger later

Upendra also shared another detail. He said his role was very small at first. He revealed “Even if it was just a single shot standing close to him I would have been happy. At first I had only one fight scene in Coolie. Later they made changes in the story.” He said working with Rajinikanth itself was enough joy.'Coolie' may have flaws. But it clearly showed the power of Rajinikanth.
