The beloved Malayalam comedy entertainer 'Punjabi House,' has etched its place as a milestone in the industry, leaving audiences eager for a potential sequel. However, the revelation comes to light that the much-anticipated sequel was shelved due to unexpected parallels with the 2015 Bollywood film 'Shamitabh.'During a promotional event for 'Voice of Sathyanathan,' director Rafi Mecartin disclosed that the initial script for the 'Punjabi House' sequel bore resemblances to 'Shamitabh,' starring Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan. The original sequel concept envisioned Unni's character, portrayed by Dileep in the first installment, having a mute son. This son, intriguingly, mimics his father's voice while singing on small TV channels.

The director found the concept fascinating, drawing a clever parallel with the first film, where Unni pretended to be mute. However, Rafi Mecartin decided to shelve the sequel plans upon realising the striking similarities between the two plots. 'Shamitabh,' directed by R. Balki, revolves around an aspiring actor with speech impairment teaming up with a man possessing a powerful voice.Meanwhile, Dileep and Rafi Meccartin collaborated on the recently released comedy entertainer ‘Voice of Sathyanathan.’ Although the movie received mixed reviews from the audiences, ‘Voice of Sathyanathan’ minted good numbers at the box office.
