Dileep is an Indian film actor, producer, singer and businessman who works in the Malayalam film industry. Born a Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan Pillai, Dileep became popular for his slapstick comedy roles in Malayalam films. In a career spanning over a quarter-century, he has starred in more than 130 films.

He started his acting career in 1991 by assisting director Kamal. He gained popularity through his amazing acts in stage shows and Comicola, a television comedy series aired on Asianet. His role as Dileep in Manathe Kottaram (1994) paved way to his film acting career. Films such as Sallapam (1996), Ee Puzhayum Kadannu (1997), Punjabi House (1998), Udayapuram Sulthan (1999), and Chandranudikkunna Dikhil (1999) established his status as a prominent actor during the late-1990s.

Dileep’s personal life and career took a toll primarily when he divorced his long term wife actress Manju Warrier in 2015 after being married to her for about 17 years. Post which he married his alleged girlfriend Kavya Madhavan on November 25, 2016 in a small ceremony.

In February 2017, Dileep was taken into police custody in connection with an abduction and sexual assault of a popular Malayalm actress.
