Palakkad: A 34-year-old man died in a firecracker explosion during Vishu celebrations at Sreekrishnapuram in Palakkad on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Dileep, a native of Vellappamthodi. The incident occurred around 8.30pm during local Vishu celebrations in the area.
Police said the mishap took place when firecrackers in Dileep's possession accidentally caught fire and exploded. He suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the postmortem report, the cause of death was cardiac arrest triggered by the impact of the explosion.
Police have registered a case and launched a probe into the incident.
