After the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,
Vicky Kaushal and
Laxman Utekar are coming together to make a film on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj called Chhava, with Vicky playing the titular role. The movie is going to tell the story of Sambhaji Maharaj from the time period of his birth in 1657 to his death in 1689.
The film is set to have a lot of war sequences, and since the film is set in the late 1600s, there’s going to be a lot of sword fighting and hand to hand combat portions. And to get the perfect authenticity for the film, sources have exclusively told ETimes that the makers have roped in international technician Todor Lazarov for the same.
Todor Lazarav has been one of the leading stuntman and stunt coordinators in the movie business; as a performer he’s been part of projects like Game of Thrones, Hercules, Zero Dark Thirty and The Expendables 2. As a stunt and action coordinator, he’s been the man behind films S. S. Rajamouli’s RRR, Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Hellboy and the major Netflix series Marco Polo. Our source also told us that some action portions have already been shot, that includes one where Vicky Kaushal got hurt, but major action sequences will be shot in the upcoming schedules.
To prepare for the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Vicky Kaushal is on a very strict regime, as he’s supposed to gain more than 25 kilograms of muscle and take his weight beyond 100 kgs. He’s roped in names like Kris Gethin and Tejas Lalwani to help him on this journey. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna.
