ETimes Exclusive! THIS actor comes on board for Nitesh Tiwari-Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana; to play Ram's beloved brother Bharat
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is one of the most awaited Bollywood projects. With Ranbir Kapoor donning the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi that of Sita and Yash as Ravana, this magnum opus is as big as it can get. And now, another prominent character in the epic has been given a face, and that is Bharat. ETimes has exclusive info that actor Addinath Kothare will be essaying the role of Ram's beloved brother Bharat. Bharat took over the reins of Ayodhya when Ram was sent to 14 years of exile, and was known as a benevolent and kind ruler. It is also said that for those 14 years, he kept his elder brother Ram's khadau (slipper) on the throne, as a sign that his brother was the rightful ruler, and he was only taking care of his duties in his absence.
Addinath Kothare is a well known Marathi actor, who made his Bollywood debut with Kabir Khan's 83, along side Ranveer Singh.
Interestingly, the only Bharat the Indian audience has always related to, was in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, which was played by Sanjay Jog who also was a Marathi speaking actor.
On the other hand, Sakshi Tanwar is all set to join Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana', creating more excitement around the highly-anticipated film. While Ranbir Kapoor is set to play the role of Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi will portray Goddess Sita, recent reports suggest that Sakshi Tanwar has also secured a role in the project.
As per a report from Filmi Beat, Sakshi Tanwar, renowned for her role in 'Dangal', has been finalized to portray Mandodari in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Mandodari, known as Ravana's wife, will be depicted by Tanwar, who has been actively participating in script-reading sessions with the cast. With this new opportunity, Sakshi will be paired opposite Yash, who plays the role of Ravana in this epic tale. However, an official announcement regarding this casting is yet to be made. Additionally, actress Indira Krishna is preparing to portray Lord Rama's mother, Kaushalya, in the movie. Krishna recently shared a glimpse of her meeting with Ranbir Kapoor, adding to the speculation.
