The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission has released the MPPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 notification for higher education posts. A total of 949 Assistant Professor vacancies have been announced across multiple subjects and categories under this recruitment drive.The notification was released on December 31, 2025, and the online application window is scheduled to open on February 27, 2026. Applicants will have the facility to file their applications till March 26, 2026, via the official website mppsc.mp.gov.in. Vacancy details across subjects The recruitment comprises the distribution of posts subject, wise and category, wise in the streams of Arts, Commerce, Social Science, and Science. The major subjects with a large number of vacancies are Chemistry, 160 posts, Physics, 145 posts, Commerce, 94 posts, and Economics, 84 posts. History has 77 vacancies, and Geography has 74 posts. Hindi and English are responsible for 57 and 56 posts, respectively. The remaining subjects are Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Law, Geology, Sanskrit, and Yogic Science. The total number of vacancies in General, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories is 949.

Eligibility criteria explainedTo apply, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 per cent marks or an equivalent grade from a recognised university. Applicants must also have qualified the NET conducted by UGC, CSIR, or ICAR, or the state-level SET or SLET examination. As per UGC regulations, candidates holding a PhD degree are exempted from the NET, SET, or SLET requirement. All educational qualifications must be obtained from recognised institutions in India or abroad.Age limit and relaxation rulesThe minimum age required to apply for the MPPSC Assistant Professor posts is 21 years. The maximum age limit has been fixed at 40 years. Age relaxation will be allowed for those candidates who belong to reserved categories as per the rules of the Madhya Pradesh Government. Before applying, the candidates should refer to the official notification for the details of category, wise relaxation.Application process and key datesThe application process will be online only. You have to go to the MPPSC official website and do the registration within the given time period. Before filling the form, you must have your academic documents and eligibility certificates ready.
