Tirupati: A 45-year-old man, accused of stealing valuables from temples, was arrested by the Ramagiri police in Sri Sathya Sai district on Tuesday. According to Sri Sathya Sai SP S Satish Kumar, the accused identified as Vadde Marri Swamy was a native of Settur mandal, who relocated to Pavagada in Karnataka. The accused was involved in temple thefts reported at Ramagiri, Kanaganapalli and Chennekothapalli villages recently.Police investigation revealed that Marri Swamy used to target less crowded temples, break into the temples at night and decamp with cash offerings in the Hundi, gold ornaments and silver articles. He was an accused in multiple theft cases reported at Karnataka as well. Police seized gold ornaments weighing 27.5 grams and silver articles weighing 380 grams, a silver biscuit and a two wheeler from the possession of the accused on Tuesday.
