TDP turns Mahanadu into mega digital event

Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam Party is set to transform its annual Mahanadu conclave into a large-scale digital political event, with the party leadership projecting the hybrid format as a technological and organisational milestone aimed at connecting lakhs of cadres simultaneously across Andhra Pradesh and beyond. The TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu has opted for a hybrid model for the May 27-28 Mahanadu, following an appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take austerity measures.The party has made elaborate arrangements linking the party’s central office in Mangalagiri with 1,848 digital clusters spread across the state through giant LED screens and online connectivity. The experiment is being closely watched not only within the party but also by rival political formations, given the scale and technological integration involved. TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao described the initiative as a “digital revolution” that could become a landmark in the history of regional political parties. “The entire country should look at this with admiration, while the Telugu community feels proud. This hybrid Mahanadu is not merely a party programme, but a new digital chapter for cadre participation,” Palla Srinivasa Rao said.The TDP, which had initially planned a large-scale three-day physical event in Nellore, subsequently revised its plans and moved towards a technology-driven format aimed at cutting costs while expanding participation. The party leadership believes the model will allow direct engagement with a much larger section of cadres than conventional Mahanadu gatherings, which were largely limited by venue capacity and logistics. Through the cluster-based digital system, party activists from constituencies and mandal headquarters will be able to interact live with party president N Chandrababu Naidu and working president Nara Lokesh.TDP youth wing leader Chintakayala Vijay said they would capture the attendance of the party leaders and activists through the iTDP mobile application. He said that the hybrid format would redefine internal political communication within the party. “This is not just a virtual event. Every cadre member will feel directly connected to the leadership through technology. The objective is to ensure that even workers in remote areas become active participants in policy discussions and organisational planning,” said Vijay.Party leaders said the savings generated through the hybrid format would be redirected towards strengthening party activities and organisational development. Discussions during Mahanadu will focus on party resolutions, state development issues, women empowerment and welfare initiatives undertaken by the TDP over the years.
