SRM-AP hosts quantum computing workshop
Vijayawada: SRM University-AP, Amaravati, in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh government, hosted a quantum computing workshop on Tuesday, bringing together experts from academia, industry and government to advance research in emerging technologies.Titled "Designing the Future: 100 Advanced Quantum Algorithms on Real Machines," the workshop focused on strengthening India's capabilities in quantum computing and building a collaborative research ecosystem.Vice-chancellor prof Ch Satish Kumar said the university aims to position itself as a research-driven institution, with plans to expand infrastructure and develop advanced facilities, including a diamond qubit lab and dedicated research centres.Secretary to the chief minister, Pradyumna PS, highlighted the state's vision to emerge as a leader in frontier technologies through innovation-led growth. Mission director of AP State Quantum Mission CV Sridhar outlined the roadmap for Amaravati Quantum Valley, emphasising focus areas such as infrastructure, talent development, and industry partnerships.Experts from IBM Quantum and other organisations led technical sessions on quantum algorithms, error mitigation, and system design, offering hands-on exposure to participants.The event concluded with a visit to the quantum reference facility at the university. Officials said such initiatives would help strengthen collaboration and accelerate quantum research in the state.
