Vijayawada: The Palnadu district police on Friday seized 40 two-wheelers without valid documents, one auto-rickshaw, three sickles, eight iron crowbars, 18 axes, 26 wooden sticks and one sharp-edged weapon during the cordon and search operation conducted in Gundlapadu village under Veldurthi police station limits.Acting on the directions of Palnadu district superintendent of police (SP) B Krishna Rao, the operation was carried out under the supervision of Macherla rural circle inspector Sk Nafeez Basha.Police teams were divided into multiple groups to carry out intensive checks targeting rowdy sheeters, troublemakers, anti-social elements and accused persons involved in previous criminal cases. Police personnel conducted searches in houses and surrounding areas as part of efforts to curb unlawful activities and strengthen public confidence in policing.As part of the operation, police personnel also conducted foot patrolling in the village and interacted with residents. Officials created awareness on helmet usage, road safety, prevention of drunk driving and the harmful effects of narcotic drugs.CI Nafeez Basha advised villagers to immediately inform the police by dialling 112 if any suspicious persons were noticed in the area. He stated that strict surveillance has been placed on rowdy sheeters and habitual offenders to prevent any untoward incidents during the election period.Police also held counselling sessions with accused persons involved in old cases and warned against creating disturbances in the village. Police further stated that strict legal action would be initiated against anyone attempting to disrupt peace and harmony.
