Vijayawada: Construction of MLA and MLC quarters in Amaravati has reached the final stage, and the facilities will be handed over to the General Administration Department (GAD) by the end of this month, municipal administration minister
P Narayana said after inspecting the housing complexes on Tuesday. He noted that development works in Amaravati are progressing rapidly and drawing attention from neighbouring states.
After inspecting the nearly completed residential towers, Narayana reviewed interior works and infrastructure facilities. He said 12 towers meant for MLAs and MLCs were nearing completion. While MLA quarters would be handed over to the GAD within a week, MLC quarters would be ready within 15 days.
The minister said construction of 4,026 residential units for officials and employees was progressing swiftly. Buildings meant for All India Service officers and ministers have also reached the finishing stage. Some blocks will be handed over by the end of this month, while the remaining structures will be completed next month.
Narayana said interior works in Group-1, Group-2 and Group-D housing complexes are nearing completion. Trunk roads, layout roads and other infrastructure works are also progressing at a fast pace in the capital region, he added.
Referring to the proposed iconic towers project, he said chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to complete it by August 2028.
He expressed confidence that all ongoing works would be completed on schedule.
The minister said 98.6% of plots have been allotted to farmers who gave land under the pooling scheme. Of 30,753 farmers who pooled 35,017 acres, plots were allotted to 30,079 farmers covering 34,527 acres.
“Only 674 farmers are yet to receive plots due to court disputes, assigned Category-4 lands, eligibility issues and family disputes. Registrations have reached 89.3%, with 63,295 of 70,824 allotted plots registered,” he said.
He added that plot allotments were conducted transparently through an online lottery system in the presence of farmers and alleged that YSRCP leaders were making baseless allegations for political reasons. He said land acquisition was taken up only where farmers did not opt for land pooling and that the govt would proceed in line with court directions in disputed cases.
