Rajahmundry: Konaseema police have arrested an inter-district house burglar involved in multiple property offences, cracking 14 theft cases and recovering stolen property worth Rs 97.5 lakh
The case traces back to the night of Aug 30, 2025, when an unidentified person broke into a house on Old Bank Street in Kothapeta by smashing the door locks. The intruder entered the house and decamped with gold ornaments and cash from a cupboard.
Following a complaint, police registered a case (Crime No. 223/2025) under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the BNS at Kothapeta police station and launched a detailed investigation.
During the probe, police arrested two accused — Ponnada Ravishankar, a native of Etimoga village in Kakinada district, and Vaira Chiranjeevi, a resident of Anaparthi village in East Godavari district.
According to police, the accused targeted houses even when occupants were present. They gained entry by manipulating door tower bolts or by breaking locks using a screwdriver before committing theft.
Police said the accused were involved in 14 cases across districts. Stolen property worth Rs 97,50,000, including 646.361 grams of gold ornaments, was recovered from them.
Superintendent of police S Rahul Meena, Dr B R Ambedkar Konaseema district, appreciated the officers and staff involved for their diligent investigation and successful arrest of the accused.
