Agra: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued fresh notices to the Agra Development Authority (ADA) and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) regarding the stalled development of a designated park in Gayatri Manhar Green Colony. The tribunal has demanded a compliance report within one month. The matter originated from a petition filed in Dec 2023 by Puran Singh Chauhan, the colony’s secretary. According to the ADA-approved layout plan, the colony was mandated to have two parks. However, the builder allegedly developed only one, leaving the second space neglected.NGT had previously directed the ADA and the UPPCB to ensure the completion of the second park and submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) within six months. During a hearing on Wednesday, the tribunal expressed strong displeasure after noting that the deadline had expired with no report filed or progress made.In its latest order, released Friday, the tribunal underscored that both the ADA and UPPCB must file detailed compliance reports within one month, and scheduled the next hearing for Aug 11.Speaking to TOI, Puran Singh Chauhan said, “Residents have been raising this issue for a long time. Green spaces are vital for the environment and the well-being of our residents, particularly children and the elderly. We hope the tribunal’s intervention finally ensures the park’s development.”
