Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh on Friday experienced mixed weather conditions, with heatwaves, hot and humid weather conditions in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and the thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squally winds in parts of Rayalaseema and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The IMD stated that Jangamaheswarapuram in Palnadu district and Narsapur reeled under heatwave conditions on Friday and parts of the CAP experienced hot and humid weather conditions. As per the IMD, Jangamaheswarapuram in Palnadu district was the hottest place in the state on Friday at 45°C, followed by Nandigama at 43.5°C, 42.6°C each at Gannavaram and Amaravati, 41.2°C each at Kakinada, Tirupathi, 41°C each at Tuni and Narsapur and 40.4°C at Machilipatnam.
The maximum day temperatures in parts of the Rayalaseema region dropped by 4-8°C on Friday due to thunderstorms activity on Thursday night and Friday afternoon. The maximum temperatures in Rayalaseema region recorded between 35°C and 40°C. The rainfall activity brought much needed relief to people in Rayalaseema region from the scorching heat.
The IMD forecast that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over coastal AP and Yanam. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Strong winds with gusty speed reaching 50-60Kmph likely at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema from May 23 to 26.
