Vijayawada: Aimed at enhancing the green cover across
Andhra Pradesh, the forest department is gearing up for the large-scale production and distribution of 2.5 crore seed balls under a statewide green campaign spearheaded by deputy chief minister and minister for forests & environment K Pawan Kalyan. The ambitious programme seeks to strengthen biodiversity, improve ecological balance and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
The campaign will involve public representatives, women from self-help groups, government employees, students, youth organisations, environmental volunteers and citizens from all sections of society.
Officials said large-scale seed ball preparation activities will be conducted across the state during June, with the initiative expected to be transformed into a mass public movement. Officials further said that the initiative is aimed at enhancing forest biodiversity, increasing green cover and building a cleaner and climate-resilient AP.
The forest department has prepared plans to make use of the
monsoon season by dispersing seed balls extensively during July and Aug. Officials said three methods will be adopted for implementation, including direct scattering, manual planting and deployment of advanced drone technology for aerial distribution.
Addressing officials and the public, Pawan Kalyan called for collective participation in the initiative and said, “Every seed ball we sow is a promise of hope for our future. Let us all join hands to make Andhra Pradesh greener, healthier and more sustainable for future generations.”
