Vijayawada: The state govt on Tuesday appointed Dr Attaluri Vishnuvardhan as the new director of medical education (DME). Dr Vishnuvardhan has been serving as the principal of Rangaraya Government Medical College in Kakinada. In a major administrative reshuffle within the medical and health department, the government has also decided to post 15 professors, who were recently promoted as additional directors of medical education (ADMEs), as principals and superintendents in various government medical institutions across the state.
The decision comes following the government’s approval of a series of appointments and postings involving senior medical professionals and recently promoted officials. Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu approved the proposals submitted by the health department.
Dr Raghunandan, who has been discharging the responsibilities of DME as an additional charge for the past nine months while serving as an ADME, has been appointed as the Vijayawada GGH superintendent after he decided to step down as the in-charge DME.
In another significant posting, Eluru GGH superintendent Dr MS Raju has been transferred and posted as Rajamahendravaram government medical college principal.
Further, Dr KVV Satyanarayana Murthy, working as a neurology professor at Guntur Government Medical College, has been promoted as the ADME.
Dr P Ushakiran, currently working as a pharmacology professor at Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, has been promoted to ADME and has been further appointed as the principal of the same medical college. Subsequently, the government appointed Vizianagaram Government Medical College Pathology professor Dr Basumitra Das as Paderu Medical College principal.
Siddhartha Medical College Community Medicine professor Dr S Govindu has been appointed as Piduguralla Medical College principal. In another appointment, Rangaraya Medical College Biochemistry Professor Dr S Shivani has been appointed as Ongole Medical College principal.
Further, Andhra Medical College (AMC) General Surgey Head of Department (HoD) Professor Dr V Manmadharao, has been appointed as the director of Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).
