Triple-riding minor boy dies in accident

Trichy: A 17-year-old teen was killed and two of his friends were injured after the two-wheeler they were travelling on collided with a govt bus in Trichy on Monday night.The minor boy, P Thayananthan, was riding the bike with his friends R Nirmal, 18, and C Manoharan, 26 — all from Malligaipatti near Marungapuri in Trichy district — along the Madurai-Trichy service road. When the bike was crossing a bridge at Thalampatti around 7.30pm, it collided head-on with a govt bus heading to Kallampatti from Thuvarankurichi. All three friends sustained grievous injuries. They were rushed to Thuvarankurichi GH, and later shifted to a private hospital in Manapparai. The minor boy died on Tuesday morning. The boy's body was handed over to his family members after an autopsy at Manapparai GH.Based on a complaint from the bus driver, A Palanivel, police registered a case and are investigating.
