Dinosaurs found in India: The giant creatures that once roamed the subcontinent

Several millions of years ago, before the existence of modern cities, forests, rivers, and many other things in India, there used to be massive dinosaurs walking across the subcontinent. India might not be the first country which comes to mind when talking about dinosaurs. However, the country has a rich prehistoric past. According to scientists, the fossils found in Telangana prove that Barapasaurus lived during the early Jurassic era. It probably reached an impressive length of 14+ meters. The name of the dinosaur could be translated as "big-legged lizard" due to its large limbs.

Isisaurus previously named Titanosaurus colberti was another giant dinosaur found in India. This animal belonged to titanosaurs and was distinguished by its massive body and long neck. Fossils discovered in India suggest that Isisaurus survived until almost the end of the dinosaurs' existence. In contrast to other titanosaurs, it had an upright structure of the neck.

This carnivorous dinosaur is believed to have existed in India during the late Cretaceous era. Scientists came to the conclusion based on fossils found in India. Indosuchus was a powerful predator, although there is not enough information available about it due to an insufficient number of remains.

Jainosaurus was a herbivorous titanosaur discovered in India. The dinosaur is distinguished by its large neck; fossils of the creature were found in Madhya Pradesh. Similarly to other titanosaurs, Jainosaurus moved in search of vegetation.
