Thiruvananthapuram: Following LDF's defeat in the assembly elections, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has tendered his resignation to governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Monday. The governor has accepted the resignation and requested him to continue in office until alternative arrangements are made.
Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting that was scheduled to be convened on Tuesday by Pinarayi Vijayan-led govt has been cancelled in the wake of the election results. The outgoing chief minister is expected to reach the state capital on Tuesday.
Vijayan, who led the state for two consecutive terms over the past 10 years, submitted his resignation after Congress-led UDF secured a resounding victory, sweeping aside the LDF govt.
