Thiruvananthapuram: State recorded a pass percentage of 77.97 in this year’s higher secondary examination, the results of which were announced on Tuesday. The pass percentage was 77.81 in the previous academic year. Girls outshone boys in the latest results as well. While 84.89% girls cleared the exam, the percentage of boy students who become eligible for higher studies is 68.41%. General education minister N Samsudheen announced the results.
A total of 3,72,423 candidates appeared for the higher secondary examination held in March 2026. Of them, 2,90,381 candidates become eligible for higher studies. The results were finalised after considering the marks scored by students in their first year higher secondary examination as well.
Stream wise results reflect higher pass percentage in science stream with 84.52% win. The pass percentage in commerce and humanities streams are 74.74 and 66.38% , respectively. Among scheduled cast students, 58.95% candidates cleared the examination and among ST candidates, the pass percentage stood at 65.33%.
Students of aided schools recorded 82.82% win against 72.66% win in govt and 78.18% in unaided sector.
There is also a marginal increase in the number of students who secured A+ for all subjects. A total of 30,561 candidates secured all A+. The figure was 30,145 last year. Among all A+ holders, 23,095 are girl students and 7,466 are boys. The highest number of students who got all A+ are from science stream ( 22,970), followed by commerce (5,264) and humanities (2,327). As many as 60 students got full marks (1200/1200). Last time, 41 candidates achieved that fete. To become eligible for higher studies, 30 is the base percentage required for candidates.
Idukki recorded the highest pass percentage (84.64) among districts. The lowest pass percentage is in Kasargod (71.72). The highest number of students appeared for the exam was from Govt HSS, Thiroorangadi, Malappuram. As many as 835 candidates appeared for the exam from the school. Malappuram also secured highest number of all A+ (4,621).
Higher secondary technical stream, art stream, open school exam results were also announced. While technical stream recorded 72.82% pass, the same is 82,54% in art stream and 50.92% in open school. Meanwhile, the vocational higher seconday examination recorded 72.49 pass percentage. As many as 25,259 candidates appeared for the VHSE exam.
