Jamshedpur: The 9,000 Nepali community members living in the Steel City are concerned over the turmoil in their home country.
Nepali Seva Samiti (NSS) president Vijoy Kumar Damai said, “Violence stopped after the Nepal Army took charge of law and order yesterday. If violence erupts again, we might approach the Union govt to bring our family members here till normalcy returns.”
Baridih resident Shamsher Bohara, who is visiting Kathmandu for personal work, is keeping NSS functionaries updated on the developments, he added.
“We are trying to find if anyone has got stuck in Nepal so that we can reach out to them with help,” Damai said.
Community leader Sukhdeo Gurung said, “Presently, the situation is under control. But we are concerned about the future if there’s no amicable solution to the crisis.”
Jyoti Adhikari, the cultural wing secretary of NSS, said, “Our cousins who live at Hankot in Kathmandu said they are safe. Then they would seek our help, if the situation worsens.”
Meanwhile, they expressed happiness that Kul Man Ghising has emerged as one of the front runners for interim chief of Nepal. “Kul Man did his engineering from RIT Jamshedpur (presently NIT), and he has relatives in Jamshedpur. We would be happy if he becomes the interim chief,” Dalai said.
