Chatra: A man was arrested with 30.31 grams of brown sugar from a forest in Bhurkunda under Itkhori police station limits of the district on Thursday. The accused was identified as Ashok Paswan, a resident of Mayadih village under Gidhaur police station limits in the district. The seized contraband is worth Rs 15 lakh, the police said.DSP headquarters Sunil Kumar Singh said a team was constituted based on a tip-off received by SP Animesh Naithany about a deal which was to take place in the forest area along Chatra Road. Acting swiftly, the team laid a trap and detained the suspect from the spot. The contraband was recovered from a packet. A mobile phone, allegedly used in drug trade, was also seized. “An FIR has been registered at Itkhori police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway.” Singh said.
