BHOPAL: A day after the Jabalpur high court quashed her anticipatory bail in the Twisha Sharma death case, former district judge Giribala Singh was seen feeding a stray dog outside her house in Bhopal on Thursday morning.Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials are likely to take her into custody for further investigation. The Jabalpur bench of the high court on Wednesday set aside the anticipatory bail granted to Singh by a Bhopal sessions court on May 15 in a case registered under provisions related to cruelty and dowry, along with sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
While quashing the relief, the court observed that the trial court had failed to adequately consider material available in the case diary, witness statements and allegations made by the deceased’s family. The high court noted that statements recorded from Twisha Sharma’s family members since May 13 contained allegations that Singh and her son had harassed the deceased and allegedly pressured her to terminate her pregnancy. The court also referred to WhatsApp chats and postmortem findings, including multiple ante-mortem injuries, stating that the material required deeper investigation. The prosecution and the CBI had submitted before the court that the accused had allegedly not cooperated fully with the investigation despite notices, and that custodial interrogation could be necessary given the seriousness of the allegations and the stage of the probe.Twisha Sharma, a Noida resident, married Bhopal-based Samarth Singh in December 2025. After her death on May 12, her family accused her in-laws of subjecting her to dowry-related harassment.
