Violence erupted in Kerala after ED searches linked to the CMRL money laundering case triggered protests outside the residence of former Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. CPI(M) workers allegedly hurled stones, helmets and bottles, while an ED vehicle was attacked and its windshield shattered. Protests later spread to Delhi, where CPI(M) leaders led by M. A. Baby demonstrated outside the ED headquarters, alleging political targeting. The controversy centres on allegations that Exalogic Solutions Private Limited, owned by Veena Vijayan, received payments from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited without rendering services. The ED is probing whether the transactions constitute proceeds of crime under PMLA, while Pinarayi Vijayan himself has not been named as an accused.
