Four-Horned Antelope Fawn Rescued from Farmer's House in Latehar, Lodged in Palamu Tiger Reserve

Daltonganj: A one-year-old female deer fawn, known as Kotra locally, was rescued from a farmer's house in Bandua village in Latehar district on Friday, forest officials said on Saturday.It is a four-horned antelope, the deputy director, south division of PTR, Kumar Ashish, said.The rescued fawn was later taken and lodged in the deer enclosure at Garu East Range of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) on Saturday, a forest official said.The range officer-in-charge of Balumath forest, N K Mahto, said, “This female Kotra was in the house of a farmer, Prafful Yadav, and his family was taking care of the animal."Asked how this fawn reached Yadav's house, Mahto said, "The Yadav family has goats. The goats go grazing outside in the jungles. A few months ago, the fawn reached Yadav's house along with the goats and from then on it was staying there.""It happens especially with the Kotras. They mingle with the goats quite easily. It is a very common thing," the ranger said."The fawn, on two occasions, was taken back to the jungles but every time it came back to Yadav's house," Mahto said.
