Armed men loot Rs 2.5 lakh from SBI customer point in Hazaribag

In Hazaribag's Katkamdag block, two armed men robbed Rs 2.5 lakh from a State Bank of India customer service point on Tuesday. The robbers held the owner, Khelwanti Kumari, at gunpoint after pretending to want to withdraw money. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and investigating nearby villages to apprehend the suspects, though a formal complaint is still pending.

Hazaribag: Two men looted Rs 2.5 lakh from a customer service point of State Bank of India in Katkamdag block of the district on Tuesday after holding the facility’s owner at gunpoint. Khelwanti Kumari, the owner of the customer point at Sirsi Damodih around 10:30 am, said two men arrived as soon as she opened the office and said they wanted to withdraw Rs 10,000.“As I switched on the inverter, one of them held me at gunpoint, covered my mouth with his hand and picked up a bag containing Rs 2.52 lakh cash. The duo then fled after pulling down the shutter of my office, leaving me trapped inside." Kumari raised an alarm soon after, following which locals came to her rescue.Pramod Rai, the officer in-charge of Katkamdag police station, said, “We are scanning CCTV footages and gathering evidence to carry out raids in neighbouring villages to nab the duo.” However, a formal complaint was yet to registered till the evening.
