Rajkot: The Kutch East Special Operations Group apprehended four Punjab residents, including two women, on Friday night and seized 147.67g of cocaine, valued at Rs 1.47 crore.
The team intercepted the four on the national highway connecting Lakhadiya village to Samakhiyari in Kutch's Bhachau taluka. The arrested individuals are Hanish Singh Binder Singh, 27; Sandeep Singh Pappu Singh, 25; his wife Arshdeep Kaur Sandeep Singh, 21 and Jaspal Kaur alias Suman Gulwant Singh, 29.
Authorities continue to search for Gulwant Singh alias Sunny Singh, who dispatched the cocaine from Punjab and is related to Jaspal Kaur. All suspects hail from Rampura village in Punjab's Bathinda district and share family connections.
PSI V P Ahir of the Kutch East Special Operations Group registered a case against all five suspects under the NDPS Act at Lakhadiya police station. According to Ahir's complaint, the team discovered a suspicious substance beneath the air filter under the bonnet during a routine vehicle inspection. Subsequent FSL testing confirmed the substance as cocaine.
Kutch East SP Sagar Bagmar announced that the four would face court proceedings for remand. The suspects allegedly travelled to Kutch for cocaine distribution. Gulwant Singh orchestrated the delivery through his wife Jaspal Kaur alias Suman and accomplices. The authorities are questioning the suspects about their intended recipients in Kutch and previous drug deliveries in the region.
