Vegetable vendor held for bid to kill pregnant wife
Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old vegetable vendor from Urse village in Maval taluka on the charge of attempting to kill his three-month pregnant wife by stabbing her. The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday inside their home. The 24-year-old woman is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Her condition is stable, police said.An officer from the Shirgaon police said the couple runs a vegetable stall in Urse and stays in a rented accommodation. The woman is three-month pregnant. "She stated that in the early hours of Wednesday her husband attempted to kill her when she refused physical intimacy because she was pregnant. He first throttled her and then stabbed her," the police officer said.He said that the neighbours took her to a hospital. After the treatment, she lodged a complaint with the police. "The accused has been arrested under section 109 (murder attempt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," he said.
