Close shave for PMPML CMD on expressway

Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) chairman and managing director (CMD), Mahesh Awhad, had a narrow escape after his car crashed into a minibus on the Pune-Mumbai expressway at Malavli, about 58km from the city. The accident happened on Thursday evening, when Awhad was returning to Pune from Mumbai. Awhad sustained minor injuries, while his bodyguard and driver got severe injuries.Awhad told TOI, "The accident happened around 3.30pm when we were returning to Pune from Mumbai. When we reached Malavli, a mini-bus driver all of a sudden took a U-turn. Our car crashed into it."Awhad said that his car's driver and his bodyguard, who was in the front seat, sustained severe injuries. "We had a narrow escape because thankfully, no other vehicles were nearby when the accident happened," Awhad said.The Pune Rural police have registered a case of negligent driving against the mini-bus driver.
