Woman beaten to death in Gopalganj

Patna: A 32-year-old woman was beaten to death with an iron rod at Mahradeur village under Bhore police station area in Gopalganj district on Thursday. The incident occurred following a dispute over a child defecating. The deceased has been identified as Suman Devi, wife of Sunil Chauhan.Angered by this, locals blocked the Bhore-Mirganj main road with the body and raised slogans against the administration. The road blockade and agitation prompted a swift response from officials. Hathua SDPO Anand Mohan Gupta, BDO Dinesh Kumar Singh and Bijayipur SHO, along with police teams from several stations, rushed to Bhore Charmuhani to control the situation.“An argument broke out between two sides in Mahradeur village over children defecating in the neighbourhood. The dispute escalated quickly and the accused, Atesh Chauhan, allegedly attacked Suman with an iron rod repeatedly. She collapsed on the spot after suffering severe head injuries.Family members and villagers rushed her to Bhore referral hospital, where doctors declared her dead on examination,” Hathua SDPO Anand Mohan Gupta said.Alert villagers caught the fleeing accused, Atesh, and handed him over to police. As a precaution, police patrolling was increased in the village and surrounding areas, the SDPO added.
