Patna: Jan Suraaj founder
Prashant Kishor on Wednesday reiterated his resolve to “transform”
Bihar, saying he would pursue the mission at all costs. He also announced that his party would put up a strong challenge to the
BJP in the forthcoming Bankipur assembly by-election, necessitated by the nomination of sitting MLA Nitin Nabin to the Rajya Sabha.
“We have come with the promise to transform Bihar. Until that mission is achieved, there is no question of going back,” Prashant told reporters late on Wednesday evening.
Jan Suraaj failed to open its account in last year’s Assembly elections despite fielding candidates in a majority of constituencies. However, Prashant expressed confidence about the party’s prospects in Bankipur, which has remained a BJP stronghold for nearly three decades. Nitin himself was elected from the constituency six consecutive times.
Declaring an aggressive campaign strategy, Prashant said, “Will visit every home, launch intensive poll campaign and defeat the BJP. Will defeat it in its own home, this is our challenge.”
The remarks underline Jan Suraaj’s attempt to establish itself as a serious political challenger in Bihar ahead of the by-election.
Last week, Prashant shifted to an ashram on the outskirts of Patna, stating that he would remain there until meaningful change is brought about in Bihar.
