Patna: Patna University (PU) on Thursday organised an induction meet for newly admitted PhD scholars of the humanities, social science, science and commerce faculties before the commencement of their six-month-long coursework.
The induction programme was held in two separate shifts at the Patna College seminar hall, in which nearly 400 newly admitted scholars participated.
Addressing the scholars, social science faculty dean Shefali Roy introduced them to their respective heads of departments and senior faculty members. The scholars were also apprised of the rules and regulations related to the PhD coursework, details of the course content, research facilities available in different departments and various other facilities available at the centralised level in the university.
PU dean of students’ welfare Kameshwar Pandit, in his presidential remarks, appealed to the scholars to make optimum use of library and laboratory facilities for carrying out meaningful and socially relevant research on their selected topics. He also requested them to get their research findings published in reputed national and international journals.
