Biharsharif: Police on Friday rescued four girls, including three minors, from a rented house in Silao area of Nalanda district and arrested four alleged operators linked to illegal orchestra-cum-dance racket.
The rescue operation was carried out at Ward no. 6 in Silao by a joint team comprising personnel from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), women and Silao police stations on the directions of Nalanda SP Bharat Soni. A voluntary organisation coordinated the operation.
Rajgir DSP Sunil Kumar Singh said the girls were allegedly being forced to perform in orchestra programmes and were subjected to harassment whenever they refused to dance. Police suspect the girls were brought through an interstate
human trafficking network.
Four alleged operators, including a woman, were arrested from the spot. The accused were identified as Roshni Kumari of Bhojpur, Anup Kumar Vanshal of Madhya Pradesh, Pawan Kumar of Noorsarai in Nalanda district and Dheeraj Prakash of Chhattisgarh.
An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway. Officials of the district child protection unit and members of voluntary organisations also participated in the rescue operation.
