A dispute over a phone call escalated into violence in Bhojpur district, where a 25-year-old man was allegedly shot by his elder brother's brother-in-law. The victim, Sonu Thakur, reportedly intervened when the accused was talking to a girl known to him, leading to an argument and the shooting. Thakur sustained a bullet injury and is receiving treatment.
Ara: A 25-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly shot at by his elder brother’s brother-in-law on Sunday morning for opposing his phone talk with a girl known to him. The incident occurred at Ojhwalia Mor under Karnamepur police station in Bhojpur district.The victim, Sonu Thakur, son of retired Army jawan Dev Krishna Thakur and a resident of Nauranga village under Bairia police station in Ballia district, runs a dairy business in Bairia. On Sunday morning, he was on his way to Buxar district to deliver milk in his pick-up van when he was allegedly chased by bike-borne Sadhu Rai alias Sadhu Thakur and shot at from close range.Sonu sustained a bullet injury in his left arm and was rushed to Sadar hospital, Ara, where he is undergoing treatment.Speaking from his hospital bed, Sonu said Sadhu Rai, who is related to him, had been talking to a girl on his cellphone outside his house. “I told him that the girl is the daughter of one of my dairy customers and villagers might object if they come to know about it. He got angry and started abusing me and my wife. When I protested, he threatened to shoot me,” Sonu alleged.Karnamepur SHO Kanhaiya Kumar said, “No FIR has been lodged yet. A police team has visited the spot and an investigation is underway to identify and nab the accused.”
