Man dies after being run over by truck in Begusarai

Begusarai: A 40-year-old man was killed after being run over by a truck near Ramzanpur village on NH-31 under Lakho police station area in Begusarai district on Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as Guddu Kumar, a resident of Iniyar village in the same police station area. According to family members, Guddu was on his way to work at Barauni refinery, where he was employed as a contract worker.His cousin Dharmendra said Guddu was riding pillion on a motorcycle when the accident occurred. “A truck coming from the same direction hit the motorcycle. Guddu fell on the road and was crushed under the vehicle,” he said. The truck driver fled the spot along with the vehicle after the incident.Following the accident, angry locals staged a protest by blocking traffic on the highway for about an hour, demanding compensation for the victim’s family. Police said further investigation is underway.
