Cop deposes in court in alleged fake MU degree case

Gaya: Anil Kumar Bhanot, a cop, on Friday appeared as a prosecution witness in a Gaya courtin a case in which Parampal Singh, currently posted as commandant in the fourth Commando Battalion, Mohali, was allegedly awarded a questionable degree by the Magadh University. Parampal is alleged to have got job in the Punjab police on the basis of the alleged fake degree.A former joint controller of exam, Magadh University is facing trial under different sections of the IPC for alleged involvement in the award of questionable degree to the Punjab police officer. The former joint controller has already been charge-sheeted in the Magadh University police station case number 46/2015.According to additional public prosecutor Ujala Singh, Bhanot was the first witness to have testified in the court of Prabhat Kumar Chaudhary, Judicial Magistrate First Class. There are nearly half a dozen prosecution witnesses in the case. The other witnesses will be examined at subsequent dates.In his testimony, Bhanot reiterated the charges made in the FIR that said that the degree was not awarded to Parampal in a genuine manner and it was obtained in a fraudulent manner.
