Farmer killed, 2 injured after lightning strike in Yavatmal

Yavatmal: A farmer died on the spot after being struck by lightning as unseasonal rain battered Darati village in Umarkhed taluka of Yavatmal district on Thursday. A woman and a young boy were seriously injured in the incident.According to information, farmer Srinivas Rathod and a few others were engaged in agricultural work in the farmland near Darati village heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning began unexpectedly in the afternoon. Amid the storm, lightning struck the labourers working in the field. Rathod (45) died instantly. A woman and a small boy sustained severe injuries.
