Nagpur: Two unidentified men impersonating police officers duped a 63-year-old farmer of gold ornaments worth ₹4.35 lakh by swapping them with fake jewellery in Khaparkheda on Monday.Hiraman Patil, a resident of Bhilgaon, was heading to his farm in Waregaon Shivara on his motorcycle. While buying milk at Waregaon Chowk around 8.15am, two men claiming to be police on a motorcycle approached him.Later, near Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hostel on Suradevi Road, the same men stopped him again. They asked him to remove his gold ornaments, citing theft concerns, and place them in their vehicle trunk for "safety". Patil handed over two gold rings (50gm) and three gold rings (37gms).The impostors wrapped the jewellery in white paper, allegedly swapped it with duplicates, and fled. Patil discovered the fraud upon reaching his farm.A case has been registered under BNS at Khaparkheda police station.
