Mumbai: A junior engineer of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation deputed at tax department was arrested by the Bhayandar cops on Wednesday. He was sent to a three days police custody after he was produced in the courts today. Though the FIR was registered in June 2024, he was arrested on Wednesday for further investigation. It has been alleged that he had forged signatures of his superiors and forged documents to approve 14 stalls to handover it to the hawkers. It has also been alleged that he took money from a couple of them to approve these stalls.Shailesh Shinde, working in the tax department was incharge of documentation for approving the stall from 2022 to June 2024. During his tenure stalls were being approved and applications were seeked. Sometime in early 2024 a staff member observed a few documents which looked suspicious and reported it to the seniors. After scrutinising those, it was found that the signatures of the seniors were forged. Those concerned seniors were shown those documents and they denied signing those. Accordingly in June 2024 the mbmc approached the Bhayandar police station and registered an FIR, but since investigation was being conducted, Kailash wasnt arrested.On Wednesday, Shinde was arrested for further investigation.
