Panaji: Colvale police arrested Nepali national Joshan Japrel (25) at Tivim railway station with 3.5 kg of ganja worth Rs 3.5 lakh. Japrel is currently residing in Calangute.Police said that Japrel arrived from Mumbai by the Mandovi Express on Tuesday, and during a parking lot check, he was found in possession of ganja meant for sale in Goa.North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said that based on the directions given by chief minister Pramod Sawant two months ago, North Goa Police deployed additional staff at railway stations to check migrants coming from various parts of the country.A special team from the Colvale police station, deployed at the Tivim railway station, intercepted Japrel.“The accused has been arrested under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. He was earlier arrested in 2024 by Saligao police in connection with an NDPS case,” said Gupta.PSI Dattaraj Rane and constables Sudesh Kerkar, Nikheel Naik, Pravin Patil, Santosh Narvekar, Sadashiv Parab, Niklesh Gaonkar, and Sarvesh Raut conducted the raid.Further investigation is under way.
