NEW DELHI: Gaganpreet Makkad, who was driving the BMW involved in a crash that killed Navjot Singh, a deputy secretary in the Finance Ministry, failed to secure bail from a Delhi court on Wednesday. As the court extended her judicial custody, she will remain in judicial custody till September 27 and the next bail hearing scheduled for Saturday.Makkad, arrested on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, filed a bail application on Tuesday, arguing that there was no intent or negligence on her part. Her petition said custodial interrogation was unnecessary as she had cooperated with the investigation, was not a flight risk, and was unlikely to tamper with evidence. The court has issued a notice to the prosecution and directed Tihar jail authorities to provide her with medical care. Police confirmed her blood samples tested negative for alcohol.
